Mercedes OM443 Technical Data
The Mercedes OM 443 V10 Engine, as part of the 400 series, was the successor to the OM441A. It was designed to meet the 1996-99 Euro 2 standards, and was produced during the 1990s, up through the early 2000s.
The
first generation of 400 series V10 diesels, produced in 1970 designated
as the OM403 was followed by the next generation
of V10 diesels OM423 series, which was again
followed by the OM443 engine series, which generates 245 kW (330 hp).
Due to the fact that the Mercedes-Benz OM443 engine was designed with
consideration of Euro II environmental norms, it has been very popular
and widely used since the early 1990s in road engineering and average
tonnage trucks.
In terms of technical aspects, the OM443 produced 536 hp and 1,622 lb-ft of torque. It weighed about 2,250 pounds, and had a compression ratio of 16.9:1. It was also installed into combine harvesters, box trucks, busses and 18-wheeler applications as well.
These third generation motors of the OM443 series were release in the late 1980's and included turbocharged and intercooler features in the OM443A and OM443LA variants. They featured robust cast iron blocks, and were popular in harsh hot desert climates due to their large displacements and low operating temperatures.
