OM401 Technical Data
The Mercedes-Benz OM 401 diesel engine is a four-stroke motor with a volume of 575 cubic inches. This (400 engine series) was jointly developed by Daimler-Benz and MAN in the mid 1970s and was built jointly while preserving company specifics such as different combustion processes.
The OM401 engine is the first generation of V6 400 series diesels, released in 1975 and developing the capacity of 141 kW (192 hp). Most of the engines were produced for export. The OM401 offers a turbocharger and high fuel efficiency being the smallest among the 400 series V-engines.
This engine is designed with consideration of environmental norms Euro II. The OM401 has been widely used in road engineering and average tonnage trucks as well as combine harvesters, including combine harvesters CLAAS Lexion 460.
The engine series OM 401 V6, OM 402 V8, OM 403 V10 and OM 404 V12 complete the 400 series of diesel engines with 6 to 12 cylinders in V-arrangement.
