Series (R172) 2011-2020 Production Models
The
Mercedes-Benz R172 is the third generation of SLK-Class (SLC-Class)
and sales launched in January 2011. It is the successor to the
R171 series.
Early models included the SLK 200 BlueEFFICIENCY, SLK 250 BlueEFFICIENCY, SLK 350 BlueEFFICIENCY. US models went on sale in summer 2011 as 2012 model year vehicles.
Changes from the first and second generations R170, R171 incorporated a headlamp design from the 190 SL roadster from the 1950s, and front end inspired by Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé and CLS-Class (W218)
Production timeline included the SLK 200 2011-2015, SLC 200 2015-2020, SLK 250 2011-2015, SLC 300 2015-2020, SLK 350 2011-2015, SLK 55 AMG 2012-2015 and SLK 250CDI 2012-
The Roadster Pure (2011-2020) is a version of SLK 200 BlueEFFICIENCY. The SLK 250 CDI (2011-2016) is the first diesel engine SLK. The SLK 55 AMG (2012-2015) unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, is powered by the M152 engine, rated at 415 hp at 6,800 rpm, 398 lb.ft of torque at 4,500 rpm.
Transmission choices were manual shift and automatic options that included:
- 6-speed manual
- 7-speed automatic (7G-Tronic Plus)
- 9-speed automatic (9G-Tronic)
- 7-speed automatic (AMG Speedshift Plus)
