OM352 Technical Data

The Mercedes-Benz OM 352 diesel motor was revealed in 1964 available in differing trim and power ratings of 150 and 156 hp, such as the OM 352A variant fitted with a turbocharger, or the OM 352LA fitted with an intercooler and a turbocharger.  These motors employed a cast-iron water-cooled cylinder block using cast-in cylinders. Bosch PES style inline direct injection pumps delivered fuel and each inline 6 cylinder head was capped with a single unit cylinder head cover and air intake cast out of aluminum alloy. Exhaust ports 2&3 and 4&5 are combined requiring an exhaust manifold with four outlets. The precision forged crankshaft rested on seven three-layer bearings, and split design connecting rods with bronze bushings for piston pins. Heavy payload trucks were fitted with the Daimler-Benz direct injection system.

A petrol variant, the OM 352 was produced from 1966 to 1977 with 130 hp which were mainly found in NATO supply vehicles under the model designation M 352. The OM352 series includes engine OM353 designations in its variations.

In 1979 Mercedes granted licensing for manufacturing of the OM352 by Atlantis Diesel Engines (ADE) in South Africa. These were known as ADE 352 and are identical to the Mercedes OM352 engines. Common output power can vary from 92 to 141 kW (125 to 192 PS; 123 to 189 hp) depending on the fuel delivery and air charge options.
