OM651 Engine Technical Data
The Mercedes-Benz OM651 is a 2.1 L (2,143 cc) inline-four cylinder diesel engines introduced in 2008.
The OM651 was a common designe created to maximized universal parts commonality between other engines manufactured by Daimler. One requirement was the ability to mount the engine longitudinally and transversely. It featured fuel efficiency compliance with Euro 5 emission standards, and was updated to the Euro 6 standard by 2010.
Features included four piezo-electric injectors fed from common rail high pressure fuel injection directly into the combustion chambers, and recirculated exhaust gas that reduces the oxygen in the cylinders to "starve" reactions to produce NO(x).
OM651 variant output power ratings
- 109 PS (80 kW) (badged x180) 136 PS (100 kW) (badged x200)
- 170 PS (125 kW) (badged x220) to 204 PS (150 kW) (badged x250)
The 170 PS (125 kW) and 204 PS (150 kW) variant employed a bi-turbo charger setup.
