OM364 Technical Data
The Mercedes-Benz OM 364 4-cyliner and OM 366 6-cylinder models arrived in 1983/1984 with the power rating of the 364 four-cylinder engine power range of 63-103 kW (86-140 hp) @ 2,600-2,800 rpm and a torque ratings of 254-500 Nm (187-369 lb.ft) @ 1,200-2,800 rpm. It started off as a naturally aspirated engine developing 90 hp, but from 1986 with the help of a turbocharger it developed 115 hp.
The
OM 364 LA Intercooled and Turbocharged version was unveiled at the RAI
congress centre in Amsterdam in 1994, and it already complied with Euro
2 emissions standards that were to come into force in 1996. The new
Euro II compliant model developed 136 hp, and included eco-friendly
intercooler and turbocharger with wastegate features. A redesigned combustion
chamber, five-hole instead of four-hole injection nozzles, and a higher
injection pressure added to its performance.
This 300 series came in two models, OM364 and OM366 Diesel Engines with their successor being unveiled in January 1996 as the 900 engine series.
Applications included vans, trucks, buses, forklifts, power generators, Unimogs, 711 D and 811 D large capacity vans and special-purpose vehicles like the MB trac.
