Series (W114) 1968-1976 Production Models
The
Mercedes-Benz W114 series models included sedans and coupe body styles
that were first introduced in 1968 with production running into 1976
along side its related chassis and body sharing series, the
W115 4-cylinder variants.
The W114 models were 6-cylinder variants manufactured through model year 1976, and their engine sizes were used as marketplace names for each model helping decipher which models had bigger engines, ie. more horsepower.

America models includ the 230 with M180 2.3 Liter engine from 1968–1973. - The 250 with M114 2.5 Liter engine produced from 1968–1970, as well as a 250 with M130 2.8 Liter engine produced from 1970–1973, and 250C with M130 2.8 Liter 1969–1973.
- The 280 with M110 2.8 Liter engine produced from 1972–1973, and 280C with M110 2.8 Liter engine produced 1972–1973.
Mercedes introduced a coupe variant of the W114 in 1969 which featured a longer trunk , and was available with a choice of either a M114 2.5 liter or M130 2.8 liter six-cylinder engine for a power plant.
The W114 was a successor to the W111 6-cylinder models of the fintal variants. Then in 1975 the W123 Series became the successor of the W114 series ending its eight year production run.
