Mercedes OM502 Engine Technical Data
The Mercedes Benz OM502 LA motor is a V8 diesel engine with output ranging from 350 HP to 652 HP. Actros vehicles are equipped with two types of engines, the OM 501 LA-541 and the OM 502 LA-542.
The eight-cylinder units come in three variations of 15.9-liter V8 engines with power outputs from 510 hp to 598 hp. This engines can be mated to a new 12-speed Mercedes-Benz PowerShift Offroad automated transmission offered with Power mode, Rocking mode, Manoeuvring mode and EcoRoll mode.
The OM 502 LA eight-cylinder engines feature exceptionally economical and ecofriendly BlueTec technology compared to models equipped with the rival exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system. The MBE8502 performance module is designed for all 16L Mercedes OM502LA engines, and can increase horsepower up to 30% and decrease fuel consumption up to 10-20%.
The OM 502 LA V8 engine can be combined as a powerpack in conjunction with the G 240 16-speed transmission. These OM502LA power-packs include electronic engine management, four valves per cylinder, the pump-line-nozzle technology with separately controlled unit pumps for each cylinder, eight-hole injection nozzles and, in the case of the V8 OM 502 LA, two turbochargers.
