Series (W113) 1963-1971 Production Models
The
Mercedes-Benz W113 Series variant were in production from 1963-1971
and included the 230SL, 250SL, and 280SL roadster variants.
The W113 series garnered the nicknamed Pagoda (or Pagode) which was in reference to the hardtop roofline which had a lower dipped centerline in the middle as apposed to the sides which rose up along the edges.
Production
for the 113 series started with the 230SL which housed the
M127 petrol 2.2 liter 6-cylinder engine and was
manufactured from 1963-67.
It was replaced by the 250SL housing the M129 6-cylinder 2.5 liter petrol engine beginning in 1966 and running through 1968.
The 280SL followed as its successor beginning in 1967 and housed the M130 6-cylinder 2.8 liter petrol engine which completed the 113 series which ending in 1971.
The w 113 series succeeded the W121 series 190SL models and was superseded itself by the R107, C107 series starting in 1971.
The 113 series carries a higher resale value from its successor 107 series due to the significantly lower numbers produced as the 107 production went on for almost two decades.
