OM936 OM936LA Engine Technical Data
The Mercedes OM936 medium-duty diesel engines were developed to be extremely economical providing extended maintenance intervals, long service lives and provide an advantageous ratio of power to low fuel consumption. They offer variable valve timing, an economical feature that has not been used in diesel engines previously. Technology advancements include the world’s first diesel engine variable exhaust camshaft and a maximum injection pressure of 2,400 bar, with five power options that cover a power range up to 260 kW (354 hp).
The OM936 is designed to be aggregated with a 4-speed transmission. These engines were the successors intended to replace the 900 series engines launched in 1996. The engines form part of a modular system with a high degree of shared components.
