OM647 Engine Technical Data

The Mercedes-Benz OM647 engine is a Straight 5-cylinder 2.7 L (2,687 cc) diesel motor, with turbocharger and intercooler. Engine production ran from 2002 to 2006.

The OM647 engine utilizes a cast-iron cylinder block and an aluminum cylinder head including a DOHC valvetrain. The displacement of (2,687 cc) 2.7 Liters, included cylinder bore specs of 88 mm (3.46 in) with a piston stroke of 88.3 mm (3.48 in).

The engine is turbocharged and intercooled with a common rail direct injection fuel system and water-cooled cooling system. The OM 647 engine also has four valves per cylinder with dual overhead camshafts.

A very distinguishable aspect of the OM647 from the very similar OM612 predecessor is its intake manifold.
