OM626 OM626LA Engine Technical Data
The OM 626 motor offers a displacement of 1.6 liters 1598 cm³ with features that include a common rail direct injection, piezo injectors, DOHC with 4 valves per cylinder, dual turbochargers and an intercooler. Its makeup consists of a cast iron block and aluminum cylinder head, and was designed for vehicles with a longitudinal orientation.
The OM 626 engine EGR system to comply with the Euro-6 environmental standards. The outlet gases enter a particle filter where it is cooled and re-fed to the compressor. Subsequent treatment is carried out using a selective neutralizer (SCR).
The base engine is a Renault R9M engine produced by Renault in Cléon (France), then completed at the Mercedes plant in Bremen. Components added by Mercedes include the start-stop function, air conditioning compressor and generator with a special dual-mass flywheel, and a modified engine control unit with additional functions that control exhaust after-treatment.
