OM312 Technical Data
The Mercedes-Benz OM 312 was the first diesel engine developed after
World War II and formed the basis for many of the engines to follow
in the 300 series.
Much of the OM312 motor design comes from experience gained with the
production of engines for Opel during the Second World War. The engine
is equipped with a pre-chamber, and achieves an average working pressure
of 7.4 Kg/cm2. Features include: Mahle pistons equipped with 4 compression
rings and two scraper rings, with one of the rings being chromed.
