M274 Engine Technical Data

The Mercedes-Benz M274 engine is a turbocharged Inline-four cylinder that appeared on Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 2017 and was the successor to previous M271 engines.

The M274 is designed as a longitudinally-mounted layout motor for rear-wheel drive vehicles with dual overhead camshafts, 4 valves per cylinder, variable valve timing, direct injection and complies with the EU6 emissions standard. The 2.0 liter (1,991 cc) engine was introduced in September 2012 featuring an increased piston stroke up to 92 mm (3.62 in), increased performance figures, and a 9.8:1 compression ratio. The M274 was also used in the Infiniti Q50 since 2014.
